A newly-released Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office report is giving fresh details on the response to the self-harm incident that left celebrity blogger Perez Hilton hospitalized.
The report released Friday details the Aug. 4 mental health crisis involving the 48-year-old who livestreamed what appeared to be self-harm from his Westchester home.
A deputy wrote that they responded to the home after Hilton’s sister, Barbara, reported that he was inside with a knife cutting himself.

The sister said Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, had been suicidal the previous week and had been taken to a hospital for help, the report said.
But on the day of the incident, Hilton’s sister said he had been “unusually quiet” and had locked the door to his bedroom, which was unusual, the report said.
His sister said she became concerned when Hilton refused to come out of a bathroom, so she unlocked the door and found him inside naked and covered in blood, the report said.
The sister fled the residence with Hilton’s three children and her daughter and got into her vehicle, but said Hilton came outside “naked and bloody and began banging on the vehicle’s driver’s window,” the report said.
She began to drive away when she saw authorities arrived.
Hilton received treatment at the scene from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue for “multiple lacerations and an overdose,” the report said.
He was then hospitalized for his injuries and taken for a mental health evaluation, also known as a Baker Act.
In her first public interview, with Page Six, Barbara Lavandeira said Aug. 4 “will forever be one of the darkest days my family and I have ever experienced.”
She said when she found her brother in the bathroom, he was “naked, cut up, covered in blood, with a box cutter in his hand.”
Lavandeira said her brother had checked himself into a hospital for “severe depression” shortly before the Aug. 4 incident but after several days of treatment was discharged.
In March, Hilton said in a series of posts that he was hospitalized for three weeks with an ulcer and sepsis. Hilton said in a YouTube video addressing his hospitalization that his condition was a result of taking medication without eating.
Hilton was back in a hospital a few weeks later for deep vein thrombosis, he said in an interview with NBC South Florida last month.
He moved from Las Vegas to his hometown of Miami in June to be closer to family.
Lavandeira said Hilton remains hospitalized and the family’s priority is the health and safety of Hilton and his children.
“He did sustain cuts to his face and other areas, but it’s still far too early to know the extent of any lasting damage or scarring,” she told Page Six. “What I can say is that he has a long road ahead of him, both physically and mentally.”
