The arrest last month of a suspect in connection with a triple shooting in northwest Miami-Dade has led to the arrest of another man accused of conspiring with the alleged shooter to launder fraud proceeds, authorities said.

Edinson Daniel DeLeon, 28, was arrested Wednesday on charges including organized scheme to defraud conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy and unlawful use of a communications device, an arrest report said.

According to the report, the alleged criminal activity was discovered after the July 17 arrest of 24-year-old Justin Ramirez in an attempted murder case.

That case involved a July 5 shooting in which three people, including a 2 -year-old, were shot inside a BMW in Northwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.

While executing a cellular search warrant on Ramirez, investigators found personal and financial information belonging to around 400 people, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers and credit card info, the report said.

Ramirez used the info for bank spoofing, account takeover fraud and other schemes, and was later arrested on multiple charges related to the fraudulent activity including unlawful possession of 5 or more identifications and unlawful use of a communications device, according to the report and jail records.

Investigators also found text messages between Ramirez and a contact, “Eddo Brazy,” whose number was linked by subscriber information to DeLeon, the report said.

The conversations included them discussing using DeLeon’s bank account to transfer and move “illicit funds obtained through fraudulent activity,” the report said.

The funds were transferred and moved to hide the fraud, and the two also discussed DeLeon receiving a portion of the proceeds, the report said.

According to the report, the conversations involved thousands of dollars on multiple occasions, for a total of around $30,000.
