The clock is ticking toward Florida’s primary election, and voters are already making their choices, with the final day of early voting in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
Several voters spoke with NBC6 on Sunday who said they wanted to make sure their voices were heard and didn’t want to risk waiting until primary day.
The primary election will be held on Tuesday.
In Broward, voters trickled in throughout the day, with more than 120,000 people who had already cast early ballots.
In Miami‑Dade, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stopped by the elections headquarters in Doral to cast his ballot.
So far, early voting ended at 4 p.m., and so far, about 150,000 voters have already turned out.
Others told NBC6 that they’re voting early to avoid long lines on Tuesday.
“Early is convenient,” a voter said. “You show up, show your ID. Tuesday, I might be busy, and it could slip my mind.”
Depending on where you live, your vote could help decide local referendums, county commission seats, and party nominees for governor.
There are 23 early voting sites in Miami‑Dade and 21 in Broward.
