A former Miami-Dade County Public Schools psychologist has been found guilty of eight criminal charges after prosecutors accused him of possessing and promoting child sexual abuse material.

A jury convicted Dr. Robert Lee Turner, 64, following a trial that centered on child porn investigators said was found on his cellphone.

Turner was arrested in August 2024 after police began investigating a cyber tip from Instagram. Authorities said the social media company reported that child sexual abuse material had been uploaded through an account connected to Turner.

Investigators said they found multiple videos involving children between the ages of 8 and 16 stored on Turner’s phone. Police also said some of the material had remained on the device for more than two years.

Authorities further alleged that investigators uncovered online conversations in which Turner described fantasies involving children.

Turner’s attorneys argued that he had been hacked and that his personal information had been stolen. The defense maintained that Turner was not responsible for the material investigators found.

In about two hours, the jury ultimately rejected the defense and found Turner guilty on all eight charges.

Among the convictions are charges involving the promotion and possession of a sexual performance by a child.

Turner previously worked as a psychologist with Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

With the guilty verdict now entered, the case moves to the sentencing phase. A judge will determine Turner’s punishment at a later date.

Turner, who was on house arrest awaiting trial, was placed back into custody until sentencing.
