A man is facing charges after a person delivering food in Miami Gardens fatally shot a suspect who he said tried to rob him, police said.
The incident unfolded Thursday afternoon in the 20300 block of Northwest 34th Court.
According to a Friday news release from Miami Gardens Police, the shooter said he was delivering food when he became the victim of an armed robbery.
During the robbery, he said he managed to shoot one of the suspects.
Officers arrived and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was airlifted to Aventura Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police are still working to identify him.
The shooter stayed at the scene and was detained by officers.
Witnesses said a second suspect was seen running from the scene and running toward a white vehicle, and police issued a “Be On the Lookout” for the car.
The vehicle was later found in Miramar and the second suspect, 18-year-old Jabari Joshua Thomas, was taken into custody, police said.
Thomas was arrested and booked into jail on charges of second-degree felony murder and armed robbery in connection to the incident.
